The Multispecies Futures Lab sits at the productive yet greatly underexplored contact-zone between Multispecies Studies and the Environmental and Digital Humanities.

Founded in 2024 and directed by Professor Vetri Nathan, its activities and projects make the case for an urgently-needed multispecies paradigm-shift in the humanities and sciences. Teaching and research initiatives encourage transcultural and collaborative explorations (between human and more-than-human experts) to locate pathways that counter corrosive ecocultural practices. The lab also examines theoretical and methodological frameworks that will help us better understand the intimate yet complex connections between virtual-vs-embodied ecocultural identities and the links between digital mediatic practices and ecological damage and wellbeing.
