The RITC Program

The Research & Instructional Technology Consultants (RITCs) are a team of graduate students who work collaboratively to share their various disciplinary, pedagogical, and technical skills by assisting instructors with the best use of technology in research and instruction.

The RITC’s provide the following types of support:

Instructional

• Participate in instructional project collaborations undertaken by HumTech and Digital Humanities 
• Support Humanities instructors’ use of Bruin Learn course websites and related tools
• Train and support Humanities faculty, instructors, and TAs in digitizing print, audio, and video media for online delivery
• Provide drop-in and scheduled technical support to faculty with instructional questions
• Research and implement solutions and best practices for instructional tools and technologies (with a focus on the Humanities)

Research

• Participate in research project collaborations under HumTech and the Digital Humanities Program
• Work alongside faculty, staff, librarians, and other students on research projects
• Provide technical support to faculty with research questions
• Research and implement best practices for sustainable research-related tools and technologies

There are number of reasons to become an RITC – but the best ones are around the fantastic exposure to technology, people, and resources that may fall outside of your own discipline while you work with faculty on their teaching and research projects. See how the field of Digital Humanities continues to evolve and mature, and get a great glimpse into other academic career paths.

RITCs are hired for a tenure on an annual basis and are based in our Teaching Resource Center (1020 Public Affairs Building). Recruitment for these positions occurs in Spring term, with work starting in September.
