DESCRIPTION:Hosted in conjunction with SWALLT\, this one-day mini-conference will explore how literacy practices intersect with language education. Key themes include digital literacies\, multimodal communication\, and the role of cultural and social contexts in language learning. \nThe agenda is now available!\nThe Future of Language Teaching – SWALLT-UCLA 2024 Agenda\nWe are seeking presenters to share research\, strategies\, and practical approaches to foster multi-literacy development in language learners. Each presenter will have 15 minutes\, with time left over for questions and discussion. Presenters will be grouped into blocks of three (group registration is encouraged) and should be made in English. To attend or present\, please register here.\nParticipants will engage in discussions designed to enhance teaching methodologies in today’s language classroom. \nThis in-person event is free to attend (no remote option will be available).  Lunch is not included\, however\, there are options available on campus\, or attendees are encouraged to bring their own and enjoy the Franklin D. DESCRIPTION:UCLA’s Center for the Advancement of Teaching (CAT)\, the Center for Education\, Innovation\, and Learning in the Sciences (CEILS)\, the Excellence in Pedagogy and Innovative Classrooms program (EPIC)\, Online Teaching and Learning (OTL)\, the Bruin Learn Center of Excellence (CoE)\, the Writing Programs\, and Humanities Technology (HumTech) have collaborated to bring a series of discussions and workshops aimed to help you explore the potential of artificial intelligence in teaching and learning.\nThe kick-off event for AI in Action will be held on Friday May 12th at 2pm PT\, followed by a week of follow up workshops that dive deeper into potential uses of AI in teaching and learning. Events held from May 12-19 will take place remotely over Zoom.\nContinue the conversation about AI in person on June 2 by attending the Creating Connections symposium hosted by Writing Programs and the Graduate Certificate in Writing Pedagogy.
