About

Humanities Technology was founded on September 8, 1987 as Humanities Computing – a dedicated resource for humanists within the Dean’s office. To this day, it remains dedicated to that role.

Having become The Center for Digital Humanities, in October 2018 our name changed again to Humanities Technology, or HumTech for short. Realizing that HumTech only reflects a portion of what we do, we added HumTeach (instructional support) and HumThink (research support) in 2025.
